The children in Reception have been celebrating International Women's Day today. We have talked about how things used to be for women in the past and how they are now. The children were very surprised that once girls couldn't play football, go to school, be doctors and many other things. We watched some of the top goals by the Lioness', talked about what we want to be when we grow up and sorted our toys into piles - girls, boys and girls and boys. After our conversations the children chose the girls AND boys pile for ALL of the toys. Fantastic! We have had lots of discussions today about how we can help to make a change as well.#
